BTW, I have officially settled on the GSR 40 configuration. Forward facing exhaust will make it much easier to mount up a pipe or muffler so that was really the deciding factor. I found new KT100 pipes on comet karts for 60 bucks! I also must mention how nice it is to work on these engines. They were clearly designed for gear heads and they were also designed to run in either direction. Beats the hell out of these weed wacker engines we're used to.

It's a blocky diagram, but it's dimensionaly accurate.

Got the flywheel ordered. 50 bucks used, not bad!

The pullstart is basically done as well. Only took about 45 minutes with the die grinder and the mig. I still need to make the small spring, but it looks like it would work without it. That spring seems to keep the pawl from rattling around when it's not in use.

I cut this piece and tried to bend it but it cracked. Must be heat treated. It stayed in position long enough to get a few tack welds on it.

This cup was riveted on. I cut it off, drilled a new hole and moved it over.

Also had to grind a notch here for the recoil spring to grab.

Thank you sir! Works as it should. It's about 50% harder than starting a skopod 60. I'm putting some thought into a compression release.

Yes it will get piped at some point. The question is low mid or top end?

Low end might put you on your ***, top end and you may never get on pipe. Or the top end will simply scare the life out of you.

    Try both! 😈

If I remember correctly, my racing kt100 was dynoed and it made somewhere in the neighborhood of 13hp at 12,500rpm. I think they are safe to rev to about 14k. Total weight was around 350lbs driver and kart. It would do 65mph with 11/80ish gearing.

Just got back from 2 weeks in china and my sleep is all jacked up so I woke up at midnight and came into the shop around 5. I spent an hour or so removing 2lbs of bird shit from the frame, then I made the Y piece and jigged it up.

Welds came out decent considering I'm pretty bad at MIGing anything other than a straight line.
